Welcome To A New Beautiful You

One of the most popular ways to minimize prominent wrinkles and fine lines is with injections of Botox, Dysport or Xeomin. These products are purified forms of the neurotoxin botulinum toxin type A. They work by temporarily relaxing targeted facial muscles; as the muscles slowly relax, the overlying lines or wrinkles fade from view.

The quality of your injectable results depends on the skill and experience of your injector. Dr. Ali Roham and his team of injectors have an exceptional knowledge of facial anatomy and meticulous, precise techniques. They understand that over-injecting an area of the face can lead to a perpetually frozen or surprised expression.

Who Is a Candidate for Neurotoxins?

Suitable neurotoxin candidates are individuals looking for a non-surgical way to minimize visible wrinkles, fine lines and creases. Botox, Dysport and Xeomin are specifically designed to treat dynamic wrinkles — that is, wrinkles that are caused by repeated facial movements such as squinting, smiling or frowning.

Neurotoxins work best on mild to moderate wrinkles. Moderate to severe wrinkles may require an alternative approach, such as surgery. Neurotoxins are not suitable for women who are pregnant or nursing. Candidates should be in good health and able to commit to good skin care practices following their treatment.

Types of Neurotoxins and Procedure Details

Botox, Dysport and Xeomin are similar products with slightly different chemical makeups. All are safe and commonly used by Dr. Roham.

Botox is the most versatile of the three and has a wider range of FDA-approved uses than Dysport and Xeomin. However, Dysport and Xeomin are still excellent options for many patients. Our team will recommend the product best suited to you based on your unique facial anatomy and specific wrinkle-related concerns.

Prior to the injections, the targeted skin is numbed with a topical anesthetic. The injection points are meticulously mapped out. Then, small amounts of the neurotoxin are injected just under the skin. The number of injections needed depends on the size of the treatment area as well as the number and severity of the wrinkles/lines. Most neurotoxin treatments can be finished within 10 to 20 minutes.

Recovery and Results From Neurotoxins

Mild bruising and swelling around the injection points is common after treatment with neurotoxins. Applying cold compresses can help to minimize swelling. Otherwise, the aftereffects should gradually subside in the days following treatment.

No downtime is needed after treatment. You can immediately resume your normal activities, as long as you avoid any strenuous exercise for approximately 24 hours.

The results of neurotoxin treatment should reveal themselves within approximately five to seven days. The treated wrinkles and lines will become less visible, and the skin will appear smoother and more youthful.

Depending on the product used, the results should last between three and six months. Dr. Roham and our team recommend scheduling regular injection appointments to maintain the results long-term.
