About Motiva® Preservé

Motiva® Preservé is an innovative approach to performing breast augmentation procedures that avoids incising your underlying breast tissues and structures. During the procedure, Dr. Roham will use specialized Motiva® SmoothSilk Ergonomix or Round to improve your breast volume. These are silicone gel-filled implants that move fluidly with your body. This means that they move similarly to organic breast tissue, appearing anatomical when you stand up and more rounded when you lie down. (1)

Motiva® Preservé is a specialized procedure that requires special certification to perform. Only a handful of surgeons across the country have this certification, and Dr. Roham is part of a select group in Orange County with this certification!

Candidates

You may be an ideal candidate for Motiva® Preservé if you possess naturally full and shapely breasts but are interested in subtly enhancing their volume to refine their overall appearance and symmetry. You should also be interested in placing your breast implants above the pectoralis muscle rather than beneath it.

To undergo this procedure, you will need to be in good general health and maintain realistic expectations regarding your results. It is also important that you are nonsmoking or willing to quit using nicotine. Dr. Roham and his team will assess your candidacy during your consultation.

Your personal consultation is an integral part of creating your treatment plan. During this visit, Dr. Roham will meet with you individually to explain what Motiva® Preservé is, review your medical history, and discuss your aesthetic goals. He will also perform a physical assessment to examine your natural anatomy, breast composition, and skin quality.

Dr. Roham will use this information alongside your goals to finalize your candidacy and create your personalized treatment plan. Preparation

Once you have scheduled your procedure, Dr. Roham and his team will give you a set of detailed preparation instructions. In general, these include:

  • Avoiding Certain Medications: Discontinue taking medications or supplements that contain blood-thinning properties.
  • Preparing Time Off: Arrange time away from your professional and personal responsibilities to focus on your recovery.
  • Arranging At-Home Care: Have a trusted friend or relative drive you home after your procedure, and stay with you for the first few days afterwards.
  • Running Errands: Pick up any medications you will need and rearrange your home to create a comfortable recovery environment.
  • Stopping Any Substances: If applicable, stop consuming nicotine or alcohol leading up to the procedure.

You may receive additional guidelines specific to your medical history and treatment plan. Following all instructions closely facilitates a smooth, successful procedure and uneventful, easy recovery.

Procedure

Dr. Roham performs each Motiva® Preservé at his accredited office using minimal anesthesia. The duration of your procedure will vary, but you can expect it to last less than 2 hours.

Dr. Roham will begin by making a small incision that extends horizontally across the breast crease, or the inframammary fold, to access your underlying tissues. He will use the Motiva® Channel Separator to gain deeper access within the breasts before using the Motiva® Inflatable Balloon tool to make an internal pocket for the implants to rest in. This pocket will be made above the pectoralis muscle, also known as subglandular placement. (4) The implants will then be inserted into the chest, and each incision will be meticulously closed using sutures. You will then be transported to our recovery suite to rest.

Recovery

After undergoing Motiva® Preservé, you will need to take some time to yourself to focus on your recovery. You may experience some initial swelling, bruising, and general tenderness, but these effects will subside on their own with time. You may manage them using prescribed medications and plenty of rest. Dr. Roham will also provide you with a supportive bra to wear throughout your recovery.

We recommend incorporating gentle movements or light walks into your routine as soon as you feel ready, as they can increase circulation to the treated regions. Motiva® Preservé generally elicits a very easy recovery. In many instances, patients are comfortable and walking on the day of or day after their procedure. That said, Dr. Roham still recommends resting for a few days. You can return to desk work and light tasks after resting for several days to one week, but you will need to continue avoiding anything arduous or demanding until Dr. Roham has approved your return. He will provide you with a set of written instructions to guide you through your recovery. If any questions arise, the Roham Plastic Surgery team will be available to help!

Results

You will be able to notice immediate improvements, but your results will become more pronounced as you continue to recover. While exact outcomes depend on your specific treatment plan, you can expect subtle improvements in your breast volume, improved proportions, and elevated breast symmetry, as well as enhancements that look, feel, and move like organic breast tissue.

The results of Motiva® Preservé are long-lasting, with effects that you can enjoy for over a decade! However, it is important to remember that breast implants are not lifetime devices, and you will eventually need to replace them. We recommend having them regularly checked to ensure their health and structural integrity.

What type of breast implants are placed during Motiva® Preservé?

Dr. Roham will place Motiva® SmoothSilk Ergonomix or Round implants. These are silicone-based implants that can adapt their shape according to the position of your body, leaving you with natural-looking, feeling, and moving results.

How long will it take to recover from Motiva® Preservé?

You may return to nonstrenuous tasks and desk work after resting for several days to 1 week. However, you will need to refrain from heavy lifting or demanding activities for approximately 3 to 4 weeks, or until Dr. Roham has cleared you to return.

Are the results of Motiva® Preservé permanent?

No, the results of Motiva® Preservé are not permanent. Breast implants can offer results that last between 10 and 15 years, but they are not lifetime devices, and you will eventually need to replace them.

Can Dr. Roham perform Motiva® Preservé as a revision procedure?

No, Dr. Roham cannot perform Motiva® Preservé to refine the results of a previous procedure. These techniques may only be used for primary breast augmentation and primary breast augmentation combined with a breast lift. How will I know if I am a candidate for Motiva® Preservé?
